Against the backdrop of a dying Tacloban, an underqualified teenager struggles to secure employment in a ruthless city that has no place for him. Worse still, he discovers that a rising artificial intelligence program threatens to steal all the work reserved for man. In his search for meaning for himself and for the city he calls home, he finds out a cosmic entity has been quietly watching him.

MATIERICA

One might think that beautiful pictures, a compelling story, and brilliant movement are the three essential elements of a good animated film. The word "anima" from which animation is derived, as we all know, means "to breathe life into". And "life" means "limited time" and that there could be an approach that does not include any of the aforementioned "three elements". The result of several years of exploring new methods was an "animated film" that eschews the so-called "animated" structure. This film aims to visualize "shifting consciousness" through a method of filming in which approximately 5,000 pencil drawings are constantly overlapped"

In this sequel to DONOVAN 17: THE WEEKEND WARS, after the clones, created by the Alien Surf Dude, questioned the purposes given to them, they decided to return to space, however, with The Brilliant Brick still lost in space, the few clones left must wait, uncertain whether to stay on Earth or go to space... These clones are the night clones... but are they the right clones?

The Inn of Floating Imagery

This piece represents a kind of autobiographical vision. I use myself to create all the figures, sometimes employing masks from the Noh theater to vary my persona. A sea of richly colored figures floating and flying are accompanied by eerie sounds. The animated figures are constructed in the manner of puppetry and collage. The imagery continues until the artist's involvement with her "canvases" is revealed, with her performative self finally emerging.

SIDESTAGE

The story of SIDESTAGE is one of Theatre. That moment before you step onstage, when suddenly every worry floods your mind, and the thick stage makeup suddenly feels too heavy, and you know you look ridiculous. You can't remember your queues, your blocking, you don't even know if anyone is in the audience to see you. But then your queue comes up, and it all fades away, and the show goes on.

Video Weavings

Video Weavings is a link between the modern (video) and the ancient (weaving) technologies. Video Weavings are based on poetic mathematical rhymes, or algorithms, visualized in real time on the warp and weft of video's horizontal and vertical scanning electron beams, color phosphors, plasma cells, and LCD pixels.

A young man wishes to finish writing his script, but his father has grown tired of him wasting his time and takes matters into his own hands.

The Exhausted

Four puppet soldiers walk and make a movement inspired by Samuel Beckett’s Quad (1981). By visually adapting Deleuze’s analysis of Quad (The Exhausted, 1995), the film explores the idea of "The exhaustion of possibilities” through stop-motion animation. The puppets and the printed images slowly disintegrate, and the residue envisions new possibilities.

A young woman goes on a cathartic journey through memory and imagination inspired by the performers at an open mic.

Sword

A captive prince falls asleep; in his dreams, his doppelgangers multiply—some imprisoned, some free—and they are all searching for the magnificent Sexcalibur, which could give new meaning to their lives.

Thermogenesis

"A film version of a videotape. In it my drawings are animated and colorized by using computers. Walter Wright and Richard Froeman were on the computers. John Godfrey helped with the video editing. I did the sound score. The original tape was done on 2" high-band color videotape, two computers, a Paik-Abe video-synthesizer, with studio chroma-keying and multi-generation video editing." A version of Computer Graphics #1, one of Emshwiller's very first video works.
