Inggi: The Soul of Kaliuda Weaving

Rambu Merti (22), the youngest daughter in a family of traditional weavers in the village of Kaliuda, East Sumba, stands at a crossroads. On one hand, she feels a deep responsibility to carry on the legacy of Inggi Kaliuda, a woven tradition passed down through generations. On the other hand, she harbors a strong desire to pursue higher education and carve out a different path for herself. Accompanied by her mother, Yustina (64), Merti goes from house to house, seeking handwoven cloths to sell. Through each conversation—about motifs, life stories, and cultural values—emerge questions of identity, sacrifice, and hope. Amid uncertainty, Merti chooses to stay with her mother, while quietly searching for new ways to find meaning in the place she calls home.

Wandering: The Art of Noticing

The Shelter

It is winter at an emergency shelter for the homeless in Lausanne. Every night at the door of this little-known basement facility the same entry ritual takes place, resulting in confrontations which can sometimes turn violent. Those on duty at the shelter have the difficult task of “triaging the poor”: the women and children first, then the men. Although the total capacity at the shelter is 100, only 50 “chosen ones” will be admitted inside and granted a warm meal and a bed. The others know it will be a long night.

Moriyama-San

One week in the extraordinary-ordinary life of Mr. Moriyama, a Japanese art, architecture and music enlighted amateur who lives in one of the most famous contemporary Japanese architecture, the Moriyama house, built in Tokyo in 2005 by Pritzker-prize winner Ryue Nishizawa (SANAA). Introduced in the intimacy of this experimental microcosm which redefines completely the common sense of domestic life, Ila Bêka recounts in a very spontaneous and personal way the unique personality of the owner: a urban hermit living in a small archipelago of peace and contemplation in the heart of Tokyo. From noise music to experimental movies, the film let us enter into the ramification of the Mr. Moriyama's free spirit. Moriyama-San, the first film about noise music, acrobatic reading, silent movies, fireworks and Japanese architecture!
