There is no harmony with nature but there is no separation from nature either. Life runs through your veins at an accelerated pace. Nature is controlling at this moment, your heart rate, the amplitude of your lungs, it is directing and verifying every small detail of the synapses of your nerve cells, it is elaborating the hot semen so that you give more life. All that we are is life seeking itself, creating forms

Memoria

Surrendering the mind to the hypnotic dance of fire, a candle's glimmer reveals dreamlike memories, illustrated by flickering fragments of experimental films that overlap alongside a deconstructed soundscape. Entering a hallucinatory state in a haunted ambience, one's own subconscious is put on display.

Ceremonia Sagrada

Two adult siblings, confined to their childhood home, live under the lingering presence of their parents, whose memory is mirrored in a portrait on the wall. They strive to preserve their existence through a “sacred ceremony” of nourishment and cleansing. Trapped in the family’s gilded cage, they become both inmates and bathers, with heightened senses that console and are consoled, faithful to rituals that have vanished from modern times, where everyone is violated by the rush of time. In a classic urban house, marked by decay, they tend to each other like young mammals in the wild— with love, with exposure, with violence, frustration, and shame.

Unwavering Faith

The Nicene Creed is a profession of faith, repeated during every Celebration of the Eucharist This is followed by the Prayers of the Faithful, a series of prayer offerings wherein people respond with an invocation. Unwavering Faith is composed of religious images taken using a malfunctioning camera paired with audio from the aforementioned parts of a Sunday mass.

Berlin: Symphony of a Great City

A day in the city of Berlin, which experienced an industrial boom in the 1920s, and still provides an insight into the living and working conditions at that time. Germany had just recovered a little from the worst consequences of the First World War, the great economic crisis was still a few years away and Hitler was not yet an issue at the time.

Endless Day

Among Tooming's filmic works, Endless Day provides perhaps the most eloquent material for investigating the radical renewal of visual and narrative form, as well as the shifting registers of spatio-social portrayals and critiques in Estonian cinema. It was banned in 1971 and ordered to be destroyed. However, the film was retained and restored in the 1990s.

Blue Sunshine
