Road for Two

Thirty-five years after their first meeting, which would change their lives, Argentine guitarist Lucio Yanel and his Brazilian pupil Yamandu Costa reunited to redo, on a trip, the paths that originally led Yanel to the interior of Rio Grande do Sul. Aboard a motor home, with his guitars and memories, master and disciple cross the border of Brazil towards Corrientes, the Argentine's homeland, reflecting on the transformations brought about by the inexorable passage of time.

Paraíso

Elderly people gather every day in the romantic gardens of the Palácio do Catete, which was the official residence of the presidents of Brazil from 1867 to 1960, and today houses the Museum of the Republic. When the sun came down, they talked about the meaning of life and sang love songs together. The film was suddenly interrupted by the coronavirus pandemic and turned into a tribute to a decimated generation.

Olivier Messiaen: The Music of Faith

Olivier Messiaen played a leading role in the evolution of 20th-century music. In this classic interview, the late composer talks on topics such as his love of nature and his fervent Christian faith, two themes that profoundly shaped his work; his views on rhythm and tonal color; his relationship with his mother, the poet Cécile Sauvage; and his professorship at the Paris Conservatoire. Film clips of Messiaen improvising on the organ and notating birdsong for his compositions—plus excerpts of his music, some of which are performed by his wife, the celebrated pianist Yvonne Loriod—provide a deeper appreciation of his special genius.
